Transforming Trauma For Children & Young People
This training is designed for individuals and organisations working with children and adolescents who have experienced trauma to come together using education, healing and wellness practices. Applications are invited from yoga therapists, teachers and mental health professionals. The 2 days will enable us to increase children and young people’s access to their birth right, optimum health in mind, body and spirit.
Completion of the 2 days will enable you to support young people who have experienced trauma to befriend themselves and take control of their own healing through yoga. The practices in this course enable young people to learn how to self-care, to build a loving and trusting relationship with oneself and others and to reestablish ways to find peace in themselves.
Lucy has had over 20 years experience working with yoga and trauma with children and young people of all ages, from many countries and with different abilities. She has used these practices as a Clinical Psychologist and an adjunct to other therapeutic practices and as stand alone interventions and is keen to support others in taking them into their work in the way that is appropriate for them and those they work with. She is interested in the why as well as the what! Therefore all practices are all deeply rooted in yoga philosophy, neuroscience, attachment based research and trauma theories. You do not need any previous experience of yoga just a deep willingness to serve those experiencing the effects of trauma in their healing
Dr. Lucy Arnsby -Wilson
Lucy is the founder and co-director of MAYA. She was first introduced to yoga at 18 whilst studying and working with young people with Autism. Some of the challenges that the young people she worked with were facing is what she found herself cultivating and growing during her own yoga and meditation practice. It was at this point she knew that she needed to integrate her love and passion of yoga and psychology. She has been offering Yoga and Psychological therapy since 2005 and has had many amazing teachers such as Sonia Suma, Jo Manuel, Uma Dinsmore-Tuli and Nirlipta.
